As someone who recently put a deposit down on a Tesla I find myself constantly checking the site to see what my current estimated delivery date is. This can be a littel tedious, so I was pleased to hear it was added to the Tesla app this week! So I fired it up and sure enough when I clicked the Manage button on my car it took me to the site to login. Initially I figured it must not be available in Canada yet or something like that and continued on with my day.
After a couple more days went by and I noticed people talking about it in a Canadian Facebook group I realized I had decieved myself. So since I actually had some free time tonight I dug into it a little more. It turns out mine was still running the September build not the new October build everyone was talking about. But why was that? My apps have always auto updated before so why wasn’t this happening now?
Well my guess is it only checks once a week or so, I’m not really sure what the timing is but mine had not checked. So I had to do a little digging to see how to force it to check for updates, and it turns out it is possible. However it wasn’t under the Android setting section like I would have anticipated. Instead you need to go to the Play Store.
- Open the Google Play Store app
- Tap the profile icon (top right)
- Tap Manage Apps & Device
- Tap Update All
From there it found a whole bunch of updates I was pending and I was able to queue them up and a few minutes later I had the new Tesla app! Now if only I didn’t have to wait another 4 months for delivery…
