Back in the day our computers had a small dedicated speaker inside the case, this was known as the system speaker. The last time I saw one of those was probably back around when my nephew was born, and he’s now old enough to drive, so that should give you some idea of how long ago that was. Now adays that sound typically goes through your laptop’s built in speakers or even your headphones, but it’s still the same old legacy command that’s been kicking around since at least the 90\s. In any case, it’s an annoying sound that tends to irritate people, and some programs needlessly make heavy use of it, sso how do you go about disabling it?
Open up your command prompt as an administrator and enter:
net stop beep
After that, you won’t be bothered by the sound again!
